Budget session is going to start from today
New Delhi. The budget session of Parliament (Budget Session 2026) is going to start from today, Wednesday 28th January. The proceedings of the House will begin with President Draupadi Murmu's joint address to both the Houses. This session will be held in two phases. Of these, the first phase will run from January 28 to February 13 and the second phase will run from March 9 to April 2, which will create an environment of legislative and political activities for several weeks. In the first phase, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget (Union Budget 2026) on February 1 at 11 am.
When will the economic survey come?
The Economic Survey will be presented on January 31, a day before the budget. The Economic Survey, traditionally presented before both Houses of Parliament on 31 January every year by the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) of India, is prepared by the Department of Economic Affairs (Economic Division) of the Ministry of Finance.

All-party meeting on January 31
A day earlier, on January 31, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will call an all-party meeting. This is a general process, the purpose of which is to build consensus before the budget is presented in Parliament and to run the proceedings smoothly.
