Attempt to commit suicide by drinking poison (symbolic picture)
Digital Desk, Jabalpur. A heart-wrenching incident came to light late on Tuesday night in Purani Basti located in Kotwali police station area of Shahdol divisional headquarters. 40-year-old Shankar Lal Gupta allegedly mixed poisonous substance in cold drink and drank it himself and also gave it to his wife Rajkumari Gupta (34) and 16-year-old daughter Swati Gupta. All three were taken to the hospital in critical condition, where daughter Swati died during treatment, while the condition of the couple remains critical.
If condition worsens then open case
When the health of all three deteriorated simultaneously at night, the neighbors informed the Kotwali police. He was immediately taken to the district hospital, where after first aid he was referred to the medical college. Swati died at around 2 am in the night. The parents are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Fear of online games and cyber fraud
Preliminary police investigation has revealed that Shankar Lal Gupta was allegedly a victim of cyber fraud while playing online games. Financial losses increased and they started drowning in debt. It is being told that due to this reason disputes started increasing in the family. Police suspect that he took this dangerous step due to financial pressure and mental stress.
The police is investigating the matter in detail and the angle of cyber fraud is also being investigated. The incident has created an atmosphere of grief and shock in the area.
