Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. On Thursday, the Municipal Corporation took major and decisive action against hundreds of encroachers who had been stuck on the roadside in Doranda market for years. About 500 illegal constructions were removed in the campaign that lasted from morning to evening.
This action was taken in the presence of heavy police force, traffic police and the corporation's enforcement team, due to which not a single attempt to create protest and ruckus could be successful.
During the campaign, the shocking fact came to light that the actual width of the road through which thousands of people pass every day was about 75 feet, but due to encroachment it was reduced to just 25 feet. This was the reason that during festivals and market days it became difficult to even walk here and there was a traffic jam all the time.
There was an uproar, but the administration remained firm.
Some people also created ruckus while removing the encroachment. Allegations were made that no action was being taken against Rasiklal sweets shop and only poor shopkeepers were being targeted. Seeing the situation worsening, Amin present at the spot investigated, after which it became clear that the land concerned was not encroached upon.
However, all the illegal encroachments on the surrounding drains and roads were demolished with the JCB machine. Shopkeepers are being discriminated against. Small shops are being bulldozed and big shops are being abandoned.

The Municipal Corporation had adopted the complete procedure before taking this action. People were warned by miking in Doranda market and a notice was issued clearly stating that they should remove the encroachment themselves before Thursday, otherwise the corporation will remove it by force. Despite this, most of the encroachers ignored the warning, due to which they had to suffer the consequences.

Even after the action started, many people continued shoplifting. But as the scope of encroachment removal increased and the strictness of the administration became visible, people themselves packed their belongings and started moving away.
During this campaign which lasted from morning to evening, action was taken by blocking the roads adjacent to Doranda Chowk, due to which long queues of vehicles formed in the area and the situation remained jammed for some time.

The Municipal Corporation now seems to be completely strict regarding encroachment. For the last several days, continuous campaigns are being run in various areas of the city. This action is considered to be one of the biggest actions so far. Similarly, encroachment has been removed from High Court area to Doranda Chowk and other major areas.
Local people openly supported this action of the Municipal Corporation. He says that due to encroachment not only there was traffic jam but there was also gathering of anti-social elements.
With the widening of the road, traffic will now be smooth and the law and order in the area will be better. The Municipal Corporation has made it clear that this campaign against encroachment will continue in the future as well, and there is no question of bowing down to any pressure or opposition.
