Burari Police Caught Liquor Smuggler, Who Used To Supply From Haryana To Delhi; 1,750 Quarts Of Illicit Liquor Recovered From Tempo

Delhi Police caught the liquor smuggler.

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The team of Burari police station has arrested a liquor smuggler who was smuggling illegal liquor by filling it in a tempo. The accused used to purchase liquor from Sonipat, Haryana and then smuggle it in the Trans Yamuna area. Police seized his tempo and recovered 1,750 quarts of illicit liquor loaded in it.

The accused has been identified as Omandar Pal of New Osmanpur. After interrogating him, the police is busy searching for other accused involved in the gang.

According to Deputy Commissioner Raja Banthia, head constables Amar Singh and Ashutosh were on patrolling duty late on the night of 24 January. At 12 o'clock in the night he got information from the informer that a Mahindra Champion tempo laden with illicit liquor was about to pass. The team laid a trap and stopped the tempo coming from Mukundpur side, in which a total of 35 cartons of illicit liquor were recovered. Police arrested the driver Omandar Pal.

Promise to give Rs 100 per carton

During interrogation, he told that a few months ago he had come in contact with a person named Aalim, a resident of Ghazipur, Delhi, who was the main source of supply of illegal liquor. Aalim lured him to earn quick money by supplying illegal liquor and promised to give him Rs 100 per carton. Aalim had also given him a Mahindra three-wheeler tempo to supply illicit liquor from Haryana to Delhi. The police raided Aalim's premises on his information but he was found absconding.
