Based on the data of accidents and loss of life and property, in the road safety analysis in the district by Save Life Foundation, Bareilly Bypass and Big Bypass have been declared as critical corridor from Invertis University to Fatehganj East Shahjahanpur border. A joint team of Transport Department, NHAI, Police and Health Department conducted a survey and identified the causes of the accident. The canal culvert in Tisua was narrow and the median cut in Fatehganj East was considered dangerous and recommended for improvement.
The team of Deepak Kumar and Sandeep of National Highway Authority Bareilly-Sitapur section, Passenger Tax Officer Ramesh Chandra Prajapati from Transport Department, Intezaar Hussain of Bithri police station from Police Department, Virendra Singh from Faridpur, Sangam Sharma from Fatehganj East, Dr. Anurag Gautam from Health Department, Faridpur jointly conducted the survey and identified the causes of the accident.
The physical condition of the road, traffic pressure, junction structure, availability of indicators and factors of accident probability were examined. In the joint survey, it was found that the culvert built on the canal in Tisua is narrow, there is a high traffic junction and local market nearby, the accident risk is high. Here the need for vehicular underpass and grade separation was stated.
It was recommended to close the median cut located near the district border beyond Fatehganj East from security point of view. The need for construction of vehicular underpass or flyover was identified at both the zero points of Faridpur bypass. The road connecting to Udaipur Mohanlal joins the highway with a gradient, affecting a safe merger.
Construction of service road at this location, closure of direct matching and adjustment of road level were suggested. In view of the cross movement at Hareli-Harela junction, the need for construction of vehicular underpass was stated. At many places, non-availability of road tracks, damage to them, extension of tree branches into the carriage way and visibility of signals were hampered, prompt rectification of which was recommended.
Taking the said section on priority, a phased corrective action plan is being prepared by the district administration and concerned departments. The objective is to reduce accidents and ensure public safety through engineering improvements, effective enforcement and public awareness.
Challan issued to three bikers who jumped the divider
During the joint survey, challan of Rs 15, 20 and 27 thousand was imposed on three Bullets which were making sound like firecrackers by changing the silencer near Faridpur Toll Plaza. Three bike riders who jumped the highway divider were also challaned.
