Digital Desk, Indore. The comment made about Nagda tehsil of Ujjain district in the episode of popular TV game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC) aired on 23 December 2025 has now taken the form of a legal dispute. Strong objection has been lodged at the local level after the show's host Amitabh Bachchan described Nagda as a 'small village facing water problem'.
The court has accepted the complaint filed in the case. Also, instructions have been given to register the case in the Case Information System (CIS) and submit the report from the concerned police station. The next hearing has been fixed for April 9.
Accusation of affecting the image of the city
Complainant advocate Laxman Sundara says that misleading and factually incorrect information was given in the program regarding Nagda Nagar, which has tarnished the image of the city. He argues that describing Nagda as a small village and water-stressed does not match the actual situation.

Wrote this in the complaint
The complaint mentions that in an episode of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, anchor Amitabh Bachchan described Nagda as a 'small village' and 'water-stressed', which is not factually correct.
It has been clarified in the application that Nagda is a major railway junction of Malwa region and its population is more than 1.5 lakh. The city has been recognized as a developed industrial city. The large industrial units operating here contribute significantly to the regional economy.
It has also been said in the complaint that former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had announced to make Nagda a district on three different occasions. Administrative process was also started for this, which is currently said to be pending.
Nagda has also been mentioned in the application in the context of history. It has been claimed that this city is mentioned in the Puranas and it is also known as a city of the Mahabharata period. Chambal river flowing near the city provides water throughout the year, which helps in the operation of local industrial units.
The matter has intensified discussion at the local level. Now all eyes are on the hearing on April 9, when the court will decide on further proceedings.
