Jagran Correspondent, Asansol: International Mother Language Day was celebrated on Saturday near Asansol Kalyanpur BC Rai Road. On this occasion, Labor and Law Minister of Bengal Malay Ghatak was present as the chief guest. Minister Malay Ghatak said that Mother Language Day is celebrated on 21st February. In 1999, when students were protesting for the protection of Bengali in Dhaka University of Bangladesh, many students died due to firing on students, since that time Bangla Language Day started being celebrated. He said that Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore had said that India is a country where different languages are spoken. He said that every language has its own priority, the more knowledge of a language is good, but it is the responsibility of the Bengali speaking people to preserve their mother tongue Bengali. Minister Malay Ghatak said that festivals are celebrated in Asansol in Hindi, Urdu and Bengali languages. In which Bengali language talents are provided opportunities by organizing programs only in Bengali language in the Asansol festival organized at the fair ground. He called upon the Bengali speaking people to provide education to the children in English language but to inspire them to have love for the Bengali language. Asansol Municipal Corporation Mayor Council member Gurdas Chatterjee, Councilor Animesh Das, Asansol Engineering College teacher Chandrashekhar Kundu, Bengali writer Devjani Sinha, Nilotpal Roychoudhary, Tarak etc. were present in the program.
