Dr. Singh said that keeping in mind the possible rainfall in the coming days, farmers should stop irrigation work in their fields. Unnecessary irrigation can create a situation of excess moisture in the crops, due to which there is a possibility of increase in the outbreak of diseases and pests. He has advised to pay special attention to the mustard crop.
Farmers have been asked to regularly monitor their mustard fields for diseases and pests. If infestation of aphids or other insects is seen then adopt control measures as per the advice of agricultural experts.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra has appealed to the farmers to plan agricultural operations based on weather forecast, so that the crop can be protected from damage and production is not adversely affected. Farmers can reduce the potential risks by taking timely precautions.
