SOG, SWAT team and Sadar Bazar police station have arrested three members of a vicious gang who cheated innocent youth in the name of recruitment in the Territorial Army. These three members of the ten-member gang extorted Rs 13 lakh from 19 youths on the pretext of getting them recruited in the army and handed them army-stamped admit cards.
When he reached Army Public School on Sunday to appear for the examination, he was caught during investigation. After interrogating the youth, the police arrested three members of the gang while seven are still absconding. They are being searched. Three students who were victims of cheating have filed separate reports against the accused. The police is conducting raids in search of the remaining accused.
SSP Dr. Vipin Tada said that one and a half month ago, examinations were held for various posts in the Territorial Army. In this, about 16 hundred students were selected for the written examination. On Sunday, the written examination of these students was in Army Public School.
While checking the admit cards during the examination, 19 such students were found who had not appeared in the examination or had failed in the pre-examination. The examination center immediately informed Military Intelligence and Sadar Bazar police station. When the police interrogated them, the students revealed the names of those who gave them the admit cards.
SOG, SWAT team and Sadar Bazar police station took immediate action and arrested Rohit son of Jalendra Singh resident of Nangla Harisingh Mainpuri, Karan alias Harjeet Singh son of late. Bhupendra Singh resident of Dadan Colony police station Zirakpur Mohali and Bijendra Sharma son of Mahavir Sharma resident Kansala Rohtak Haryana were arrested from Cantt area itself. His remaining companions absconded.
SSP said that the three accused caught during interrogation told that there are ten people with them including Farrukhabad resident Dharmendra, Pratap, Delhi resident Pradeep Rathi, Rohtak resident Deep Hooda, Satish.
In the name of getting them recruited in the army, he takes money and hands them fake admit cards. 19 students are from Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Haryana and various cities of UP.
The accused have also taken money from them online. CO Cantt Navila Shukla said that Saurabh Pandey resident of Farrukhabad, Umakant and Anurag resident of Kannauj have lodged separate FIRs at Sadar Bazar police station. The police are interrogating the three arrested accused.
