Digital Desk, New Delhi. Amid global economic uncertainties, Brazil and Nigeria are emerging as key export destinations for Indian pharma companies.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Nigeria has emerged as one of the fastest growing destinations and exported medicines worth $179 million during the first eight months of the current financial year. This is 14 percent more than last year.
Medicines worth 100 million dollars were also exported to Brazil
Data shows that medicines worth about $100 million were also exported to Brazil between April and November. The country's pharmaceutical exports increased by 6.5 percent to $20.48 billion during April-November 2025-26. The data also revealed that America remains the largest pharma export destination in April-November, 2025 and its share in total exports is more than 31 percent.
Increase seen in exports of these countries
Growth in pharma exports has been recorded to the US as well as to countries like France, Netherlands, Canada, Germany and South Africa. Medicines worth more than $58 million were exported to the Netherlands, highlighting India's strong integration into the European pharmaceuticals distribution network.
"These markets reflect increasing access to healthcare, increased government procurement and growing dependence on Indian generic medicines. This combination of large markets and a variety of smaller destinations reflects a balanced export policy," a commerce ministry official said.
