In view of security, the police has imposed a ban on the use of Chinese Manjha.

Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. Kite flying preparations are in full swing in the city for the festival of Makar Sankranti-2026. The purchase of kites and manjha has increased in the markets. Meanwhile, Dhanbad Police has appealed to the common citizens to be alert and responsible.

The police have said in clear words that the use of Chinese Manjha is completely prohibited and it is in everyone's interest to stay away from it. According to the police, Chinese Manjha is not only a legal offence, but it is also proving fatal for common people and voiceless birds.

Due to its sharp edge, serious accidents occur every year. This is very dangerous especially for two-wheeler drivers. In many cases, serious injuries have occurred due to the manjha getting stuck in the throat and incidents have even resulted in death. Many examples of such tragic accidents have come to light from different parts of the country. Police said that Chinese Manjha is also extremely fatal for birds. During kite flying, this manja spread in the air gets stuck in the wings or neck of the birds, due to which they get seriously injured and sometimes even die. This act is not only inhuman but also falls in the category of a punishable offence. Dhanbad Police has appealed to the citizens to celebrate the traditional and joyous festival of Makar Sankranti responsibly. Don't risk anyone's life in the name of entertainment. Use only normal, cotton and safe threads for flying kites. Police have warned that if any person is found using or storing Chinese Manjha, strict legal action will be taken against him. In the end, the police appealed to the people for cooperation and said that Makar Sankranti should be celebrated in a safe, sensitive and humane manner. It is the collective responsibility of all of us to protect our own safety as well as the lives of others and voiceless birds.
