Jagran correspondent, Chandigarh. On the occasion of Christmas, a procession was organized in the city by the Tricity Churches Association under the chairmanship of Bishop Sahaya T Thomas of Roman Catholic Church, Chandigarh and Shimla and Father Premnand Association President Lawrence Malik, which started from CNI Church located in Sector 18 to various places in the city, from the light point of Sector 19/27, Sector 20/30 to Sector 20 and Passing through Sector 21 Market, Aroma Light Point, Sector 22/23 Light Point, Sector 24 Market, it reached the Rally Ground in Sector 25. The Shobha Yatra was given a warm and cordial welcome by the residents of various sectors.

During this time, attractive tableaux were also seen. All the churches in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula presented paintings of the birth and reburial of Jesus Christ. Carols spreading the holy message of peace were sung by the children. During this he also distributed toffees among the people.

President of Tricity Churches Association, Lawrence Malik, while congratulating everyone on Christmas, said that organizing the procession is a direct proof of love and peace.

He said that we should love and respect everyone. On this occasion, he talked about the sacrifice and teachings of Jesus Christ and said that we should follow the words given by him so that we can live a happy life.

In his address, Bishop Sahaya T Thomas said that Jesus Christ taught the society about love and humanity. Referring to the birth of Jesus Christ, he mentioned that Jesus started his life with humility and then seeing the sufferings and troubles of the people, gave up worldly things and took up a holy mission, which resulted in a change in the world.

On this occasion, Bishop Sahaya T Thomas along with Father Premanand, Bishop Brian Anderson, Pastor Elisha Masih, Hillary Victor, Bro Yunus Peter, Pastor Ajay Das, Dr Emmanuel Nahar, Pastor Jagdish Singh, Reverend Tanuj Pal Masih, Pastor Rajesh Balu and Bishop Randeep Mathew were present.

To welcome the procession, arrangements for refreshments were made by various market and residential associations of the city. In Sector 24, renowned social worker Ravindra Singh Billa had also organized a langar of tea and bread pakodas to welcome the procession.

Which was accepted by the devotees with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, social worker Ravindra Singh Billa also honored the Bishops and Fathers leading the procession by donning a shawl.

A community meal was served to the gathering and the function ended with a community prayer.
