Jagran correspondent, Jammu. On the lines of Lal Chowk of Srinagar, now a Ghantaghar i.e. clock tower will be built in the Parade area of ​​Jammu to attract tourists. This proposal has been prepared by Jammu Municipal Corporation. As soon as approval is received from the government, work on it will be started.

To attract the tourists coming to the city, the Municipal Corporation is currently preparing to build a clock tower in the parade area. This will cost an estimated Rs 70.40 lakh. There is a discussion going on to build this clock tower near the parade ground or in Parade Chowk, but the decision on the land for it is still pending, keeping in mind the government approval and the needs of the project.

The Parade is a very busy area and is also the main connecting point to the old city. A modern digital big clock will be installed in it which will be clearly visible from all sides. With the completion of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Project, this clock tower will also spread its unique charm. Earlier, Jammu Municipal Corporation had also made a proposal for multi-storey parking in the parade but it did not materialize due to public opposition. There used to be a similar clock tower in Shalamar Chowk also.

In the year 2012, the corporation had decided to build a multi-storey modern parking here at a cost of about Rs 20 crore. Earlier, there used to be a similar clock tower in Shalamar Chowk which was removed in the 90s due to road construction.

Municipal Corporation's XEN Rajesh says that the construction of this clock tower with traditional design will attract tourists to Jammu. There is a plan to build this clock tower on the lines of Lal Chowk of Srinagar.

Where this tower will be built, benches etc. will be installed around it for people to sit and selfie points etc. will be made. It will be equipped with colorful lights. The tower will be made in such a way that it can be seen from every part of Jammu.

Joint Commissioner Works Firdous Ahmed Qazi says that this can prove to be a great project. This will further enhance the beauty of Jammu. Tourists can be attracted. Under the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Project, the face of Raghunath Bazaar and surrounding markets is also changing. The look of Jammu will be different and attractive in the coming years.
