Coal Ministry's Big Action On Death Of Two Women Due To Poisonous Gas, Putki Area General Manager Of BCCL Suspended

Several steps have been taken by the Coal Ministry, BCCL and District Administration to provide immediate relief to the affected areas. A team of officials at the local level is continuously monitoring, so that there is no further loss of life and property.

Meanwhile, the death of two people has been confirmed, whose cause of death is said to be gas leakage. Taking major action at the management level, Putki Area GM Ganesh Chandra Shah has been suspended. This action has been taken on the orders of Vikram Dev Dutt, Coal Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Coal. He has not been transferred and will remain in Putki and monitor the departmental work. This was confirmed by a senior BCCL official. While making changes in the area administration, General Manager G Mehta, posted at the headquarters, has been made the new General Manager of Putki-Balihari area. This change has been confirmed by the Senior Director of BCCL. Apart from this, other five GMs have also been deployed in the area, so that relief work can be expedited and the situation can be effectively controlled. So far, 28 gas affected people have been treated in BCCL. Fellow BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Aggarwal said that all possible assistance will be provided. Help of scientists from ISM IIT and Sample is also being taken regarding the gas leak. He said that a special team has also been formed for this. And leopard is also being monitored in the area.
