Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. The effect of cold is continuously increasing in the surrounding areas including Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. In Kanke adjacent to Ranchi, chill in the morning and night significantly affected life. At the same time, people got relief for some time due to light sunshine during the day. At the same time, it is extremely cold in McCluskieganj.

In McCluskieganj, one of the major tourist destinations of Jharkhand, the severe cold on Sunday completely changed the daily routine of the people. Here the minimum temperature dropped to 0.9 degrees Celsius at 5.30 in the morning, due to which the entire area was in the grip of cold wave.

As the morning dawned, dense fog engulfed the area, reducing visibility and affecting movement on the roads. The effect of cold was so severe that people remained hiding in their homes till late in the morning. Talking about the weather of the last 24 hours, the weather remained dry in the entire state. Light and moderate fog was seen at some places.

Cold wave conditions were witnessed in the adjoining central parts of the state namely Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Gumla, Bokaro and Khunti as well as in the northwestern region i.e. Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra and Latehar. The highest maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chaibasa, while the lowest minimum temperature of 0.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in McCluskieganj.

At the same time, the maximum temperature of the capital Ranchi was recorded at 22.2 degrees and the minimum at 6.2 degrees Celsius. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, Ranchi, there is severe cold in the adjoining and central parts of the state and the districts of the northwestern region.

The effect of cold wave is being seen and the effect of cold wave will be seen in these districts on 29th December, the department has issued a yellow alert regarding this. Cold has made life difficult for common people. Life is being affected and people are having to resort to bonfires to protect themselves from the cold.

Cold wave has reduced the movement of people in Ranchi urban area. Due to which there is silence on the streets as the evening approaches. It was said in the forecast of the Meteorological Department that the effect of dense fog is being seen in the morning and late night. In such a situation, the effect of cold is increasing and late night rain has increased the problems of the people.

The temperature of the capital will remain like this for the next four days

29 December: Maximum 24 degrees and minimum 9 degrees Celsius. 30 December: Maximum 24 degrees and minimum 10 degrees Celsius. 31 December: Maximum 24 degrees and minimum 10 degrees Celsius. 1 January: Maximum 23 degrees and minimum 11 degrees Celsius.

Kanke in the grip of severe cold, sunshine gave some relief during the day

The effect of cold was clearly visible in Kanke during the last 24 hours. On December 28, the maximum temperature of Kanke was recorded at 22.3 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature dropped to 7.3 degrees Celsius. The chill in the morning and night significantly affected life.

At the same time, people got relief for some time due to light sunshine during the day. According to the Meteorological Department, there was no rainfall at all (0.0 mm) during this period. However, cold winds blowing at a speed of 1.6 km per hour further increased the sting of the cold.

In the morning and evening, people were seen wrapped in warm clothes on the streets, while crowds of people were seen around tea shops and bonfires at intersections.

Meteorologist Ramesh Kumar says that further decline in minimum temperature may be recorded in the coming days. In such a situation, citizens have been advised to be alert and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from cold.
