Cold Outbreak: Cloud And Fog Increase Difficulty, School Holidays Till January 1

Jagran Team, Shravasti. The cold is continuously increasing in the Terai. Fog is falling in the form of drops day and night. There was less fog on Monday morning, due to cloud and mist the people of the Terai could not see the Sun God. The icy wind kept making people shiver. In view of the increased cold, holiday was declared for children in schools.

The people of the Terai are troubled by continuous fog, cloud and mist. Due to increasing cold, there was silence in the markets and streets till 10 in the morning. Drivers were seen crawling with headlights on. People faced problems in commuting due to cold and fog on highways, main roads and link roads.

Affected by river erosion, daily wage laborers and street shopkeepers were seen shivering due to the harsh weather. To escape the cold, people remained stuck to bonfires at intersections throughout the day. Not only humans but also animals and birds are suffering due to the continuous cold. Destitute cattle were seen sitting in empty places in groups to escape the cold.

In view of the extreme cold and fog, holidays have been declared in the schools of government, aided, recognized and all other boards from nursery to class 12 running in the district from December 29 to January 1. The maximum temperature of the district was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius and the minimum at nine degrees Celsius.
