The minimum temperature reached 7 degrees Celsius on the first day of the year. The chill and melting increased further as the minimum temperature dropped to six degrees on Saturday. Due to this people are feeling shivering. Since the weather remained the same throughout the day on Saturday also. The sun shining is a distant thing. There was not even a hint of sunshine visible in the sky. The first day of the new year was shivering with cold. There was a dense fog. One was shivering as the minimum temperature was seven degrees. Earlier the minimum temperature was hovering at eight degrees. Because of this the whole day was remaining cold. Since then the day is feeling colder and colder. The cold seems to be increasing continuously.
The temperature dropped further by one degree in the third of the year. The minimum temperature reached six degrees on Saturday. Due to this, people kept feeling shivering from morning till evening even during the day. Its effect was also felt in the market and on the roads. To avoid cold, people are preferring to stay in homes.
Because of this, there was less crowding in the markets than usual. Fruit and vegetable vendors were also seen sitting idle along the roads. There was less crowd at the roadways bus stand also. People seen on the streets for essential work were seen in warm clothes. Even in the evening, the fog came and due to thickening of fog since night, the chill and melting increased.
On the other hand, District Agriculture Officer Kuldeep Singh Rana said that the weather of fog and cold wave is beneficial for the crops. The weather is benefiting wheat, mustard and peas etc. Also, farmers have been advised to be careful about possible diseases in this season. If such a possibility appears, then seek advice from the agriculture officer and scientist and resolve it. 14 night shelters are operated in the district, bonfires are burning at 183 places, Rampur: 14 night shelters are operated in the district to protect from cold. The 14 night shelters operated include District Hospital Complex, New Roadways Complex, Jalkal Complex, Bilaspur Road, Milak, Mumtaz Park, Municipal Council, Nayagar Panchayat Narpat Nagar (Dundawala), Nagar Panchayat Shahbad Office, Nagar Panchayat Saifni, Municipal Council Swar Night Basera, Swar, Weekly Market, Ward-09, Maswasi, Night Basera, Bilaspur, Nagar Panchayat Warehouse, Dadhiyal, Nagar Panchayat Kemri Rain. Basera, Nagar Palika Parishad Tanda night shelter are included. Bonfires are being lit at 183 places in the district. Major places include goods warehouse, Jwala Nagar, Ram Square, artillery, bus stand, railway station, district jail and police station civil line.
