Controversial Question In Class 4th Exam In Chhattisgarh: 'Ram' In The Option Of Dog's Name! Hindu Organizations Angry In Bhopal Too

Chandrashekhar Tiwari, President of Hindu Utsav Committee.

Digital Desk, Bhopal. A question asked in the English question paper of class IV half yearly examination of government schools in Mahasamund district of neighboring state Chhattisgarh has created a big controversy. In an objective question, students were asked – “What is the name of Mona’s dog?” The name 'Ram' was also included in its four options. Other options given were Bala, Sheru and 'Nobody'.

As soon as the question paper came out after the completion of the examination on Wednesday, the matter started gaining momentum. Hindu organizations expressed strong protest, calling it hurtful to religious sentiments. The echo of the controversy has now reached Bhopal, where Hindu Utsav Committee and Sanskriti Bachao Manch have reacted sharply to it.

Accusation of insulting Sanatan Dharma

Chandrashekhar Tiwari, president of Hindu Utsav Committee, said that such questions only reflect the mentality of insulting Sanatan Dharma and its worshippers. He alleged that the tolerance of Hindu society is being misused again and again. Tiwari said, "If a similar question had been related to Aaradah of any other community, strict action would have been taken by now. Hindu society is tolerant, it does not mean that its sentiments should be played with."

Sanskriti Bachao Manch also termed this question as objectionable and said that this is not just an academic mistake but a case of serious lack of sensitivity.
