Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Delhi Drug Control Department on Monday launched a campaign to check fake anti-cancer medicines and collected 55 samples from 25 firms. These include 33 legal samples and 22 specimen samples. As per rules, action has been initiated against six firms for violation of rules.

The tests were conducted in hospital areas and pharmaceutical markets in Laxmi Nagar, Yusuf Sarai, Green Park, Okhla Industrial Area, Paschim Vihar, Dwarka and Rohini etc. in East, South, West and North-West Delhi. In order to ensure the quality of life-saving anti-cancer medicines and safety of patients, Delhi's Health Minister Dr. Done on the instructions of Pankaj Singh. All have been sent for laboratory testing and analysis.

Necessary action will be taken on the basis of the report, so that the circulation of any sub-standard or fake medicine in the market can be stopped. Dr. Pankaj Singh said that anti-cancer medicines are extremely critical and life saving, compromise in quality of which can pose a serious threat to the safety of patients. For this reason, monitoring of the drug supply chain has been tightened.

Dr. Pankaj said that the policy of Delhi Government is zero tolerance against fake and substandard medicines. Such campaigns will continue regularly and strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules. He called upon the general public and health institutions to purchase medicines only from registered centers and in case of any doubt, immediately inform the Drug Control Department.
