Crores of rupees were defrauded in Punjab by creating a fake website.

Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. Rupnagar (Punjab) police have arrested four accused, including an engineer from Gorakhpur, who caused loss to the revenue of the Punjab government by creating a fake website. It is alleged that Akhilesh Pratap Shahi, a software engineer living in Vivekpuram of Taramandal area, developed fake websites and prepared Q-Forms illegally, which were being used in illegal transportation of construction materials like sand and gravel.

Investigation by Punjab Police revealed that the accused had created a fake website similar to the official website of the Mines and Geology Department of the Punjab Government.

Through this fake portal, Q-forms were generated for trucks, so that illegal mining material could be transported by misleading the investigating agencies. So far, about 450 to 500 fake Q-forms have been confirmed to have been made, causing huge revenue loss to the state government.

In this case, a case has been registered in Nangal police station of Rupnagar district on 16 January 2026. According to the police, it was an organized gang, which was dodging the government system by misusing technology.

The four accused who have been arrested include Arun Kumar alias Rana, resident of Nainwan in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, Harinderpal Bhalla alias Nonu of Bharatgarh, Rupnagar, Gurmeet Singh of Nangal and Akhilesh Pratap Shahi, resident of Vivekpuram, Taramandal Siddharth Enclave, Gorakhpur. Punjab Police has produced everyone in the court and sent them to jail.

The work of the gang members was divided

Interrogation revealed that the work of the gang members was divided. Arun Kumar alias Rana used to provide numbers of trucks. Harinderpal Bhalla alias Nonu was the main coordinator of the entire network, which used to deliver fake Q-forms to transporters and drivers. Gurmeet Singh used to generate Q-Forms through the fake website, while Akhilesh Pratap Shahi was responsible for the design, development and technical operation of the fake portal.
