Dainik Jagran's investigation in Ghaziabad found many shelters empty. Awakening
Haseen Shah, Ghaziabad. Some destitute people are not even aware of the shelter site. They don't know where the shelter is and for whom it has been built. Because of which they are spending the night on the footpath, while some destitute people are not being kept in shelters as they do not have any other documents including Aadhar card.
The corporation says that submitting without ID is a security threat. Dainik Jagran on Sunday night investigated the arrangements made at the shelter for the destitute people sleeping under the open sky in winter. People were found sleeping on footpaths at many places, while some beds were found empty at shelter sites.

Scene One: Red Quarter Shelter
The time was 10:20 pm. Chowkidar Rajendra was warming the bonfire in the shelter premises. Here the Municipal Corporation has arranged for 18 beds for destitute people to sleep. Five people were sleeping here. Other beds were found empty. There was no room heater at this shelter. TV was also bad. The arrangements for blankets and bedding at the shelter were fine.

The watchman told that any destitute person can come and sleep in the shelter. He must have any ID. Sleeping at the shelter without ID is not permitted.
Scene Two: Old Bus Stand Shelter Place
The time was 10:43 pm. Chowkidar Saurabh Sharma was warming the bonfire in the shelter premises. In one hall there were eight beds for women, while in the other hall there were 12 beds for male destitutes. 11 men were sleeping here. There was no heater. The bed arrangement here was fine. Women's beds were empty. The watchman said that the arrangements at the shelter are fine.

Scene Three: Rajnagar Green Shelter
The time was 10:21 pm. A bonfire was burning outside the shelter. 31 people were sleeping inside the shelter. Many beds were vacant here also. Two heaters were installed. The system was fine here. The watchman said that arrangements for drinking water, toilets and bonfire have been made at the shelter site.

Many people were found sleeping in the open on the footpath, a short distance from the shelter built at the old bus stand. He told that they are asked for Aadhar card at the shelter site.
