Kotwal meeting with sailors in Mathura.
Jasan, Mathura. The passion for stunting has now moved from the roads to the Yamuna river. A sailor played with the lives of half a dozen devotees. He performed a dangerous stunt while rowing a boat at high speed in the river Yamuna. Its video got circulated in the internet media and reached the Kotwal.
The policeman sent the sailor to jail. Also after holding a meeting and giving instructions to all the sailors, life jackets were made mandatory. Along with the fare, the number of devotees to be accommodated in small and big boats was also fixed.
On Sunday, boat operator Kartar Singh, in Bengali Ghat Chowki area of Kotwali police station, had taken about half a dozen devotees in a boat for a walk in Yamuna. The devotees were not wearing life jackets. Sailor Kartar Singh performed many dangerous stunts while racing the boat at high speed. Seeing this, people on the banks of Yamuna were also stunned.
During this time someone made a video of the stunt and circulated it on the internet media. Within a short time the video reached Kotwal Vinod Babu Mishra. He reached the spot with the police force and arrested sailor Kartar Singh and sent him to jail. After this the Kotwal called all the sailors and held a meeting.
It was instructed that the number of devotees is continuously increasing. No sailor will accommodate more devotees in the boats than their capacity. A warning was given of action if there were more than 10 devotees in a small boat and 15 in a big boat. Kotwal told the seafarers that fare more than Rs 100 will not be collected. Action will also be taken if devotees are allowed to board the boat without life jackets.
