On Thursday, during the discussion on the Governor's address in the Legislative Assembly, there was a debate between Energy Minister AK Sharma and SP member Shivpal Singh Yadav on the power system of the state. During the discussion, the Energy Minister was giving information about departmental achievements, when the SP member said that we are ahead of Japan. To which the Energy Minister said that yes, we are ahead of Japan. At present the country's economy has overtaken Japan.
Supporting the address, the Energy Minister said that before 2017, power generation from thermal projects in the state was 5800 MW, which has now increased to 9000 MW. Before 2017, electricity was provided to only one village in the state.
During the discussion, SP members Swami Omvesh, Rajendra Singh Patel, Geeta Shastri, Sarvesh Singh, Sandeep Singh, Rafiq Ansari etc. called the address a pack of lies. At the same time, RLD members Dr. Ajay Kumar and Prasanna Kumar, Aad (S) member Jai Kumar Singh Jacky, BJP members Poonam Shankhwar, Bhupesh Choubey, Mahesh Chandra Gupta and Dhirendra Singh supported the address. Members of the ruling party and the opposition also informed the House about the needs and demands of their assembly constituencies.
