Facility for Hindus started in Singapore.
Digital Desk, New Delhi. A new dedicated facility for religious funeral rituals for the Hindu community has been opened on Singapore's Changi Beach. This one-storey building named 'Karma Kariya Nilayam' is equipped with four private rooms.
Managed by the state-run Hindu Trust Board, the center will enable families to perform the last rites of passage on the 13th or 16th day of cremation in a calm, safe and dignified environment. Facility for online booking of private rooms is available, for which a fee of Rs 3500 has been fixed.
Bone immersion will not be allowed
Till now families were forced to perform the rituals on the open beach, where they had to face hardships like darkness, rain and strong winds. According to the Board of Trustees, this new facility will provide privacy and a respectful environment to bereaved families. However, bone immersion will not be allowed here.
5 percent Hindus in Singapore
The Hindu community has expressed satisfaction over the fulfillment of this long standing demand. Let us tell you that Hindus constitute about 5 percent of the total population of Singapore, which according to the 2020 census was about 172,963 people and this number has gradually increased.
