During the ongoing assembly session in Jammu, MLAs are vigorously raising issues related to the general public.
Digital Desk, Jammu. The government on Tuesday admitted that payments to thousands of approved beneficiaries under the Marriage Assistance Scheme were pending, but denied any delay in payments, saying there was no undue delay on their part.
In a written reply to a question by MLA Javid Hasan Baig, the Social Welfare Department said that Rs 163.93 crore has been given to 31,524 beneficiary girls under the Marriage Assistance Scheme during the current financial year.
The department also said that approval has already been given for about 12,777 more beneficiaries. However, bills worth Rs 70.08 crore for payment from October 2025 are still pending in the treasury.
It said these cases have been approved and the amount payment is in process. Now just waiting for treasury clearance. “There is no unnecessary delay from our side,” the department said, attributing the delay in payment to procedural processing of the bills. He assured that the amount will be released to the beneficiaries as soon as all the necessary formalities are completed.
