Dehradun: BCA Student Became A Thief After Losing In Gambling, Entered The House By Removing The Exhaust Fan; Jewelery And Phones Worth Lakhs Stolen

Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: When the financial condition of a BCA student deteriorated due to losing money in gambling, he planned a theft.

He entered the house by removing the exhaust fan of a house located in Rajpur. The accused stole gold and silver jewellery, expensive mobile phones and other items worth lakhs of rupees from the house.

When the residents of the locality got wind of this, they reached the house and caught the accused. After this he was handed over to the police.

The accused has been identified as Hrithik Kumar, resident of village Naguwa, district Parsa (Nepal), currently resident of Jakhan.

Police Station Head Rajpur Pradeep Rawat said that information was received at Jakhan outpost on Thursday night that local residents had caught a young man while committing theft in a closed house in Engineer Enclave.

On information, Sub Inspector Balbir Singh Rawat reached the spot with the police team and detained the accused Hrithik and searched him.

Seven pairs of anklets, five pairs of nettles, 56 white metal religious coins, two pairs of earrings, three pairs of small earrings, six nose rings, an iPhone, a mangalsutra, a gold necklace with black beads and Rs 200 in cash were recovered from him.

During interrogation, the accused told that he is a first year BCA student of DIT College, Dehradun and due to loss of money in gambling and financial pressure, he had planned to steal by doing recce of closed houses.

The accused admitted that while wandering at night, he entered a closed house by removing the exhaust fan and was stealing jewelery from the cupboard when the people of the locality caught him. A case has been registered against the accused.
