Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. An elderly patient admitted in the emergency of Government Doon Medical College Hospital suffering from respiratory and brain problems died while being shifted to the ICU.
During this the relatives created a ruckus. The doctors were accused that while shifting from emergency to ICU, the patient was not fitted with an oxygen flowmeter due to which he lost his life.
The incident happened around 9 pm on Thursday night. According to the information, when the condition of 90-year-old Johari Pal, a resident of Chandrabani Choila, a respiratory patient, deteriorated, his relatives brought him to Doon Hospital on Wednesday and admitted him to the emergency. The deceased's son Virendra and grandson Pankaj told that on Thursday the doctors asked to shift him from emergency to ICU.
For this, he also cut a slip of Rs 1700 in the afternoon. But, due to lack of bed in ICU, we waited for four hours. When a bed became vacant at night, they started shifting him from emergency to ICU. But oxygen flowmeter was not fitted to the patient. Whereas he was already suffering from breathing problems. Due to which he died midway.

After this incident the relatives gathered and started protesting. During this time, when he started making videos, the doctors stopped him and started threatening him to go out straight away. A doctor got irritated by this and he chased his relative out of there. At the same time, Medical Superintendent in-charge in this matter, Dr. Sushil Ojha said that the matter will be investigated. Clarification will be sought from the concerned.
