'Delhi Model For Healthy Liver' Launched In The National Capital, Will Help In Dealing With Diseases

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. ‘Delhi Model for Healthy Liver’ has been launched to deal with the increasing challenge of liver related diseases in the national capital. It was launched by Dr. Pankaj Singh, Health Minister of Delhi Government, on the 16th foundation day of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) on Wednesday.

Along with this, ‘Liver Gyan’ public helpline was also started, the objective of which is to increase the health literacy of the people and to provide correct and authentic information. Patient-focused and system-strengthening initiatives were also launched on the occasion. ILBS has established itself as a globally recognized center of excellence in liver treatment, education, research and public service.

On this occasion, Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh said that ILBS has set new standards in the field of clinical excellence, research and public engagement. Dr. SK Sarin, Chairman and Director of ILBS, announced that Delhi Government will fulfill all the requirements laid down in the annual report of the institute.

Earlier in the annual report, Dr. SK Sarin told that last year more than 1.60 lakh people came to the institute, more than 11 thousand emergency cases and 162 liver transplants were done. He attributed the progress of the institute to the collective efforts of the ILBS team.

Told that the Delhi Model for Healthy Liver has been designed to tackle silent diseases like fatty liver disease, which can later lead to cirrhosis, liver failure and liver cancer.

The model includes awareness programmes, screening, referral protocols, lifestyle interventions, nutrition counselling, physical activity promotion and data-driven monitoring. The event concluded with a pledge to prioritize liver health and strengthen preventive health strategies.
