Delhi Police made tight security arrangements across the capital with the help of paramilitary forces.
Mohammad Saqib, New Delhi. To ensure that people can celebrate the New Year's Eve with joy and fun without any fear, Delhi Police has made tight security arrangements across the capital with the help of para military forces. This time, for the first time, Delhi Police has taken an important and strict decision, the aim of which is to completely prevent accidents caused by drunk driving.
Delhi Police has decided to deploy special pickets around all major event venues. Policemen posted at these pickets will install body-warn cameras and at the time of entry, they will interrogate the drivers whether they are going to a party or for some other work. If the driver admits to going to the party, he will be given a clear warning not to drink and drive.
Police say that if a driver is confirmed to be driving under the influence during the return journey, his car will be confiscated for a day and he will be sent home by taxi. The driver concerned will also have to pay for this taxi. This step has been taken to prevent road accidents and protect people's lives.
Apart from this, pickets will also be deployed in the parking lots of all the event venues. Women policemen will also be deployed here. Drivers will be checked both when entering and exiting the parking lot to prevent any disorder or crime. Deputy Commissioners of all the districts have instructed the police station heads to personally inspect places like pubs, clubs, restaurants and bars etc. Also, ensure to close these places at least half an hour before the scheduled closing time at night.
PCR has also been specially instructed to remain alert. A total of 857 PCR vans will patrol their respective areas throughout the night in the capital. Senior officials will continuously monitor the movement of every PCR from the central control room so that immediate action can be taken in case of any emergency.
Police Commissioner Satish Golcha has instructed all top officials to ensure tight security arrangements. Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Madhup Tiwari and Ravindra Singh Yadav will continuously patrol their respective zones. Joint Commissioners of all ranges, Additional Police Commissioners, DCPs and Additional DCPs of the district have also been asked to remain alert in their respective areas. ACP and police station chief will patrol their areas throughout the night.
There will be more security in Connaught Place and Khan Market
Additional police forces have been provided to all the 15 districts of the capital. DCPs will deploy duty near major markets, malls, pubs, bars and restaurants as per the need of their respective districts. Maximum security will be in place at Connaught Place and Khan Market, where a large number of people from Delhi and NCR come to celebrate. There will be strict restrictions on the entry of vehicles in Connaught Place after 7 pm. Most of the routes will be closed by placing pickets. Only those people will be allowed entry through some selected routes, who have a pass for restaurant, pub, bar or hotel booking.
