Jagran correspondent, Firozabad. To prevent incidents of black marketing of rice and to make ration distribution practical, the government has changed the standard of quantity of food grains. Now three kg wheat and two kg rice per unit will be distributed in all the districts of Agra and Aligarh divisions. This system will come into effect from February. In this regard, the District Supply Officer has given instructions to all ration dealers.
Standards changed in Agra-Aligarh division to stop black marketing of rice
Many cases of illegal purchase, sale and storage of ration rice have come to light from time to time in the district. Brokers buy rice at a cheap price and sell it at a higher price in the market. The main reason for this is that people in this region eat rice in less quantity compared to wheat bread. Therefore, only a large number of card holders sell rice. Those traveling on bicycles and e-rickshaws take rice from them and give it to middlemen.
This system will be implemented from February, instructions given to ration dealers
The government has now understood this practical problem. Therefore, it has been decided to distribute according to the consumption of the area. On January 14, Additional Commissioner Food and Logistics Department has issued an order that in the districts of Agra, Aligarh, Meerut and Saharanpur divisions, now three kg of wheat instead of two and two kg of rice instead of three will be distributed per unit. Antyodaya card holders will now be given 21 kg of wheat instead of 14 and 14 kg of rice instead of 21.
Distribution will be done to all cardholders in February as per the new standards.
Sweety Kumari, District Supply Officer.
