Digital Desk, New Delhi. These days the weather has started showing its attitude in North India. Dense fog and severe cold have affected life in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, while the threat of avalanche is looming in Himachal Pradesh and heavy snowfall in Uttarakhand has blocked many roads.

Dense fog in Delhi-UP in the morning

There is dense fog in Delhi in the morning, which reduces visibility and affects road, rail and air traffic. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning here. The minimum temperature is being recorded around 8-10 degrees, while the maximum can remain at 17-20 degrees.

In Uttar Pradesh too, dense fog and cold wave like situation is prevailing in many districts like Lucknow, Noida, Saharanpur etc. In western and central Uttar Pradesh, the fog is denser in the morning and evening, due to which the cold is being felt even more intense.

Avalanches have occurred at three places in Himachal, Bharmour and Pangi in Chamba district. Three shops and two pickup vehicles were buried here due to the avalanche that occurred late on Tuesday night. There was no one in the shops or vehicles at the time of the accident. There is a pile of snow, stones and mud around the shops.

Tourists' car slipped on snow and fell into a field in Haripurdhar of Sirmaur district. Jagpal, a resident of Panchkula, Haryana, died in the accident. Due to landslide from the hill on Chamba-Pathankot National Highway, a rock fell on the moving Scorpio car.

The vehicle was damaged in the accident and the driver suffered minor injuries. In Manali, police personnel rescued stranded tourist vehicles at various places. At the same time, about 400 tourist vehicles going towards Solanganala got stuck near the Nag Temple. However, all the vehicles escaped safely. A large number of tourists are reaching tourist places in Uttarakhand.

There is movement of tourists in Dhanaulti, Auli, Buranskhanda, Kanatal, Tehri. Due to snowfall, more than two dozen connectivity routes in the state have been blocked by snowfall. There is three to four feet of snow in Kedarnath. ITBP and police personnel deployed for the security of the Dham are busy in removing snow from the residential buildings.

Drinking water and electricity supply has also been affected in many areas of the state. The team of Border Roads Organization and Public Works Department is opening the roads blocked due to snowfall. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light snowfall and rain in the mountainous areas on Thursday.

Jammu-Kashmir Highway partially opened, stranded vehicles rescued

The Jammu-Srinagar Highway, which was closed for two days due to heavy snowfall and slippage in Jammu and Kashmir, was partially opened on Wednesday and vehicles stuck on the road were evacuated. At the same time, after all the flights were canceled a day earlier, as soon as the weather improved, air services from Srinagar International Airport were resumed. Meanwhile, dozens of cattle were buried in a massive landslide near Hasti bridge in Kishtwar district, although a group of herders had a narrow escape.

At the same time, in Kulgam, a 32-year-old youth who was sleeping with a heater in his car died of suffocation. A massive avalanche occurred at Sonamarg tourist spot in Ganderbal district of Kashmir at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday night. The snow entered some houses and hotels and also damaged many vehicles parked there. No one has died due to the avalanche.

Hailstorm at many places in UP, Punjab and Haryana

Hail occurred at some places in West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Central Maharashtra. East Uttar Pradesh, strong wind with speed of 30-95 km per hour. Dense to very dense fog was observed at some places in Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. Many sightings up to 50 meters were recorded here.

The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was recorded at 3.7 degrees in Amritsar, Punjab. Apart from this, there is a possibility of western disturbance from 31 January to 02 February. Due to this, the western Himalayan region as well as the north-western part of the country is likely to be affected.
