Pakistani terrorist organizations are raising funds through humanitarian channels (symbolic picture)
IANS, Washington. Pakistan-based Islamic terrorist organizations are diversifying their funding methods and finding ways to evade global surveillance. These terrorist groups are using humanitarian activities, mosques, rescue missions, and wars to raise funds around the world, including the United States, while misusing these funds to spread "extreme Islamic messages" and promote terrorist activities.
"A recent report on Pakistan's 'mixed past' on money laundering and terrorism financing reveals that the Islamic country has misled the international community on several occasions."
Turkish journalist Ujay Bulut reported in the American media outlet "PJ Media" that the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is raising funds under the pretext of Gaza relief aid.
The journalist wrote, "Masood Azhar's son Hammad Azhar is leading efforts to raise funds for terrorist activities through Gaza Aid. He asks women in Gaza to make videos praising his charity work. His internet media alias is Qaiser Ahmed and he asks everyone to donate to his 'Easypaisa bank account' in the name of his different alias Khalid Ahmed. It receives donations from Pakistan and Gulf countries.
Bulut said that JeM has started a campaign to raise huge funds on the pretext of building more than 300 mosques in Pakistan. The terrorist organization launched a campaign to raise money online through digital wallets to collect 3.91 billion Pakistani rupees (US$14 million) for the construction of 313 new Markaz (central) buildings.
Another terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba, has switched to collecting funds directly in digital wallets instead of bank accounts, to avoid the scrutiny of FATF, the global money laundering and terrorism financing watchdog.
The ideology driven by these terrorist groups aims to establish a global caliphate of Islamic countries with the aim of increasing dominance over all non-Muslim countries, including the enforcement of Sharia law.
Hamas activities in Pakistan and Bangladesh are a matter of concern for all: Azar Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the activities of Hamas leaders in Pakistan and Bangladesh, saying that such activities should concern all countries.
“We believe that we have to fight against this,” he said. Hamas's establishment of contacts in the region is a matter of concern for all of us.
"India and Israel are discussing these issues and I am hopeful that we will find ways to protect ourselves from any future attacks," Azar said.
