Jagran correspondent, Saharanpur. After completion of 17 years of Pakistani spy Iqbal Bhatti alias Devraj Sehgal's sentence, he will now be handed over to Pakistan. Iqbal Bhatti's medical examination was done at the district hospital on Monday. After this he was sent to Attari border. He will be handed over to Pakistani Rangers on Tuesday afternoon. Bhatti was currently lodged in Gautam Buddha Nagar jail.
Bhatti was living in Saharanpur by hiding his identity. Here he changed his name to Devraj Sehgal. He had got many fake documents made in this name. Here he was running a computer center and used to send confidential information to Pakistan. Punjab Police arrested him from Patiala in the year 2008. Fake birth certificate and other documents were found from him. His sentence was completed on 22 March 2025. After this he had expressed his desire to be sent to Pakistan.
After completion of the sentence, the then SSP Rohit Sajwan had sent a letter to the Home Ministry on the report of Gautam Buddha Nagar Jail Administration. Since then, preparations were going on to deport him to Pakistan. For this the IB report was awaited. The IB team had also given its report about 12 days ago. On Monday, he was brought to Saharanpur and given medical treatment. After medical treatment that lasted for about two hours, security agencies took him away.
