Digital Desk, Shimla. The Himachal Pradesh Assembly again passed two important bills, the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill and the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill, without any changes, despite the Governor's objections.
In the Real Estate Bill, there is a proposal to make the Chief Secretary the head of the RERA Chairman Selection Committee, while in the Municipal Corporation Bill, there is talk of increasing the tenure of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to five years.
Let us tell you, this bill was passed in the winter session of the Assembly and was waiting for the approval of the Governor. Although the Governor returned the bill for reconsideration with some objections, the House again passed the bill without any changes.
The bill seeks to make the Chief Secretary the chairperson of the committee appointing the chairman and members of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), replacing the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The bill was passed by voice vote without any changes.
The Assembly also passed the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill, which seeks to increase the term of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from two and a half years to five years. This bill to replace the Ordinance was also returned by the Governor for reconsideration, but the Assembly again passed it in its original form.
