Jagran Team, Meerut. The construction of 213 km greenfield highway from Delhi to Dehradun is almost complete. Finishing work is going on in Baghpat. A little work is left near Bargaon Cut of Saharanpur. Vehicles can run from Delhi to Dehradun in the first week of February on the highway built at a cost of Rs 11,970 crore. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet.

After the opening of the highway, the journey to Dehradun can be completed in just two to two and a half hours. Right now it is taking about six to six and a half hours. At present, on this highway, 29 km elevated road from Akshardham in Delhi to Khekra in Baghpat, 41 km stretch from Lakhnaur to Ganeshpur in Saharanpur and 12 km long wildlife elevated corridor from Lakhnaur roundabout in Saharanpur to Dehradun via Biharigarh have been opened for trial.

The highway is elevated starting from Geeta Colony near Akshardham Temple in Delhi till Khekra. Traffic on this was started a month ago. 42.6 kilometers of this highway passing through 31 villages of Baghpat is in Baghpat. The first interchange is at Mavikalan village.

Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Saharanpur Highway and Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway have a junction here. Most of the work has been completed here. After entering Baghpat, the first toll plaza is built in Katha village. The basic structure of the toll plaza has been erected.

Control room and toilet building have been constructed. The machines are yet to arrive. The biggest hindrance in the district was the transmission tower in Hilwadi village. That too was removed two months ago and now a road has been built here too.

On Monday, Jagran team noticed that asphalting was being done on the side lanes at Tatiri Interchange. Apart from this, work like white-yellow stripes, crash barrier is still remaining.

Original highway work completed in Baghpat

Narendra Kumar, Project Director of NHAI in Baghpat, said that the work of the original highway in Baghpat has been completed. Finishing is going on. There is no major work left. This highway enters Saharanpur district two km ahead of Khayavadi village of Shamli. Its length in Saharanpur is 78 km.

Its distance is 37 km till Lakhnore roundabout in Bargaon area. Work is going on at one place in this phase. According to NHAI officials, the approval for the Bargaon cut was received later. For this reason, work on the cut area is going on. About 98 percent of the work has been completed. Vehicles have been speeding on the 41 km highway from Lakhnaur to Ganeshpur in Saharanpur for the last one month.

In view of the severe flooding in the rainy rivers in Dehradun region during monsoon, the work of giving one and a half to two feet thick jackets to about 24 pillars of the elevated road which come under the strong current has also been completed.

Security work, mobile tower installation and tunnel finishing work is also complete near Datkali temple. Project Manager Shiv Mohan said that 98 percent work has been completed in Saharanpur district. Most of the security related work has also been completed.

NHAI Chairman took information about the progress

Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway may be inaugurated soon. NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav along with the team conducted a surprise inspection of the highway on Monday. He took information about the progress of the work. After meeting with the officials at the toll plaza, instructions were also given to complete the remaining works of the highway soon.
