State Bureau, Jammu. Ruling National Conference President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday opposed the demand to make Jammu a separate state, saying that separating Jammu and Kashmir means separating the head from the body. Everyone knows what happens if the head is separated from the body.
In a brief conversation with journalists during his visit to Narwal Fruit Mandi on the outskirts of Jammu today, Dr Farooq Abdullah said that Jammu and Kashmir is one and will remain one. Both complement each other, both are incomplete without the other.
He said that only those people talk about dividing this state, who have no faith in the secular structure of this country. Only communal and narrow minded people will say and do this. Here some forces are trying to divide the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the name of religion and region, we have to together defeat them.
Appreciating the work being done by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that the only objective of the National Conference is the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. All promises made to the public will be fulfilled.
Earlier, he took stock of their issues in a meeting with the officials of Narwal Fruit Mandi Association along with National Conference's Jammu Province Chief Advocate Ratan Lal Gupta. He assured all possible cooperation in providing all the necessary infrastructural facilities in the fruit market.
