Housing department is working rapidly on various parking projects. Awakening

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Housing Department is rapidly developing parking facilities to overcome the problem of traffic jams in big cities, pilgrimage sites and tourist centers of the state. In this sequence, new parking facilities are going to be started soon at 11 major places in the state, in which there will be parking arrangements for a total of 1082 vehicles.
After assuming charge, the Chief Minister had directed the Housing Department to develop parking on war footing in cities and tourist areas through development authorities. Subsequently, parking proposals for 195 spaces were received from various authorities, which included options like surface parking, multi-level parking and tunnel parking.
On the basis of these proposals, the Housing Department has so far approved the DPR of 114 places and the budget for these has also been released. In the first phase, parking facilities with a total capacity of 3244 vehicles have been developed and started operating at 54 locations.

Now in the second phase, about 80 percent construction work has been completed at 11 locations and the department aims to complete these projects in the current financial year. Apart from this, the development authority is creating parking at 11 other locations from its own resources, where additional facility will be available for 359 vehicles.
Secretary Housing gave instructions Secretary Housing Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has instructed all development authorities to expedite parking projects. He said that parking facilities should be started at all the identified sites before the upcoming travel season. Besides, special attention should also be paid to ensuring toilets, lighting and cleanliness at parking lots. Instructions have also been given to maintain quality in construction works.
Crores of devotees and tourists visit Uttarakhand every year. Due to better road network, a large number of people are traveling in private vehicles, due to which the problem of traffic jam is naturally increasing. Over the last four years, work is being done to develop parking facilities for thousands of vehicles at various locations, many of which have been completed. With these efforts, the problem of traffic jam can be reduced to a great extent.
