Jagran correspondent, Chamba. Chamba Police, while taking action against drugs on Christmas Eve, has recovered 5.128 kg of hashish on Naddal-Khairy link road.

In this case, the police has arrested a person resident of Jammu and Kashmir. The arrested person has been identified as sixty year old Bishan Das son of Barfi, resident of village Sandhi, Post Office Tappar, Tehsil Bani, District Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. The team of Khairi police station was on patrol.

During this time, the accused person was stopped on the basis of suspicion on Nadal-Khairi road near Marnan Chowk. The accused could not give satisfactory answers during interrogation.

After this, he was searched as per rules, in which 5.128 kg of hashish was recovered from him.

The police seized the charas on the spot and took the accused into custody. A case has been registered by the police against the accused under the Narcotics Prohibition Act in Khairi police station.

Police are trying to find out from where the accused had brought such a huge consignment of charas and where it was to be delivered. It is also being investigated whether any other person is involved in this smuggling or not.

Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani said that Chamba Police's campaign against drugs is continuing with full vigor. The action taken on Naddal-Khairi road is part of this campaign.

No person involved in drug trafficking will be spared. The matter is being thoroughly investigated and if other people are also found involved in it, strict action will be taken against them. There is an appeal to the general public to cooperate with the police.
