Crops are suffering huge losses due to severe cold and fog in Banda. सरसों और अरहर के फूल गिर रहे हैं, जबकि मसूर, चना और अलसी की पैदावार प्रभावित हो रही ह ...और पढ़ें
Jagran correspondent, Banda. Cold and fog have started wreaking havoc on crops. Due to fog in the last few days, flowers of mustard and pigeon pea crops have started falling. These crops may suffer the most damage. There may be a decline in the yield of lentil, gram and linseed crops. Apart from wheat, fog has started affecting all the crops.
Due to lack of sunlight, the process of photosynthesis is not happening due to which the growth of crops has stopped and the process of formation of flowers etc. in the crops has also stopped. At the same time, due to fog, the incidence of diseases has also started increasing due to humidity. If this continues for a longer period, the crops sown in Bundelkhand may suffer major damage. Agricultural experts have advised irrigation and fumigation to protect crops from frost.
There are a total of seven lakh 71 thousand 623 farmers in the four districts of the division. Out of which there are 2 lakh 64 thousand 402 farmers in Banda, 1 lakh 58 thousand 94 in Chitrakoot, 2 lakh 543 in Hamirpur and 1 lakh 48 thousand 584 in Mahoba. Who have sown crops like mustard, gram, lentils, asli, peas etc. in about 10 lakh hectares.
Most of the crops are in bloom at this time. For the last several days, farmers' crops are on the verge of being ruined due to bad weather. Due to continuous severe cold and fog, the danger of frost on crops has increased. Farmers are worried and upset. Due to frost, the leaves of the crops have started turning yellow and falling. Due to which the growth of crops will stop and the yield will also be affected. Crops without irrigation will be affected. The biggest impact of fog will be on pigeon pea or crops without irrigation. Farmers who have sown lentils, mustard, linseed, gram and wheat after doing Palewa, will have less impact of frost. There should be sufficient moisture in the fields to avoid frost. This can be avoided by irrigating the crops of gram, wheat, linseed and mustard. Irrigation of lentils will cause harm, smoke
Irrigation will cause damage to the lentil crop. To protect this crop from frost, farmers should smoke the ridges on the banks of the fields, which will reduce the effect of fog and the crop will not be affected. The minimum temperature is around six degrees and the fog is causing damage. For the last several consecutive days, the minimum temperature has been around six to seven degrees. Fog is also falling continuously which is harmful for flower crops. Since most of the flowers are yellow in color, it is not understood that they turn yellow due to fog, but they become visible only when they start falling. Diseases flourish due to lack of sunlight. Lack of sunlight or less amount of it has a direct impact on the growth of crops. If the weather continues like this then sucking insects will also start infesting the crop. When this happens, crops suffer a lot. Excessive fog is also harmful for wheat. During this time, wheat also starts turning black from the bottom. If this temperature continues, potato and tomato may suffer from blight. Aphid disease also ruins the crop in this season. Measures to avoid frost: Agriculture expert of University of Agriculture and Technology, Dr. GS Parmar said that when the sun is not visible for several days, then as a first aid, do light irrigation. By doing this, crops can be protected from cold wave and frost. Irrigation increases the temperature by 0.5 to 2 degrees Celsius. In case of excessive fog, the crop can be saved by smoking the fields. Due to this, the temperature does not drop to the freezing point and the crop is saved from damage due to frost. Growth of crops is affected, photosynthesis is not taking place. Meteorologist Dr. Dinesh Saha says that at this time the effect of winter is more due to snowfall in the mountains due to western disturbance. Besides, the fog will still persist. Due to this, pulses (gram, pea, lentil, pigeon pea) and oilseeds (mustard, linseed) are being adversely affected. Due to reduction in the process of photosynthesis due to less or no sunlight, the growth of crops is decreasing. Due to moisture, the incidence of diseases has increased. Meteorologist Dinesh Saha said that these days the excessive amount of moisture in the atmosphere due to fog is 70 to 100 percent. In such a situation, the incidence of crop diseases is increasing. Spraying of fungicides is advised for prevention. Urea should be used after irrigation of wheat crop. There is a possibility of the temperature reaching six degrees. This is how to prevent diseases. Agricultural Farm Superintendent Tularam Yadav says that to protect against aphids and aphids in pulses and oilseed crops, one liter of neem oil should be dissolved in 200 liters of water and sprayed per acre. If the pest infestation is high then one liter of insecticide called dimethate should be sprayed per hectare. In case of non-availability of dimethate, prevention can be done by spraying 500 ml imidacloprid or 500 gm thiomethaxam in 500 liters of water.
