Jagran correspondent, Chandigarh. Municipal Corporation Chandigarh launched a city-wide campaign against illegal vending and encroachment. The action is aimed at ensuring smooth movement of pedestrians, maintaining public order and protecting the planned infrastructure of the city.

During the operation, enforcement teams inspected various markets and public places. Strict action was taken against vendors encroaching on public land, footpaths and roads. A total of 112 challans were issued under the provisions of the Municipal Corporation Act when rules were found violated.

The Municipal Corporation clarified that such action against encroachment will continue in future also, so that the traffic system and convenience of the common people in the city is not affected.
