Police-criminal encounter at Khagaul's Lakh
Jagran correspondent, Patna. A notorious criminal was shot and injured in an encounter between the police and a criminal late Friday night near Lakh Par in Khagaul police station area. The injured criminal has been identified as Manager Rai, resident of Didarganj. The police have admitted him to AIIMS for treatment. The incident is said to have happened around 3 in the morning.
According to police sources, Manager Rai was absconding for a long time and the police was searching for him. In this sequence, the police got secret information that he was present in Khagaul area.
Based on the information, the police team took immediate action and laid siege near Lakh Par of Khagaul. Seeing himself surrounded, the criminal started firing at the police team.
In retaliation, the police also opened fire, in which the criminal was shot in the leg and he got injured and fell down. After this the police arrested him on the spot.
Police have recovered the criminal's scooter, a pistol and two kiosks from the spot. As soon as information about the encounter was received, there was chaos in the area for some time. However, due to the prompt action of the police, the situation was soon brought under control.
It is said that about eight criminal cases are registered against Manager Rai in Khagaul police station. She was born in Khagaul in the year 2022 by Dr. Mohd. He has been accused in more than a dozen serious cases like extortion, robbery and murder, including the murder of Anawar Alam.
Police sources say that this criminal was active in spreading terror and criminal activities in the area.
As soon as information about the incident was received, City Superintendent of Police (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He took information about the entire incident from the police officers and gave instructions for further legal action.
Police say that after interrogating the criminal, important revelations related to his network and other criminal cases are likely to be made. At present, police patrolling has been increased in the area and the matter is being further investigated.
