Jagran Correspondent, Etah. Of course, Patna Bird Sanctuary has been declared a Ramsar site and is also on top in the count of birds, but there is lack of facilities here. Due to this, tourists are attracted less. Most of the people visiting Patna Bird Sanctuary are local people.

The number of tourists coming from outside remains negligible. People believe that if facilities are increased then tourists will be attracted more.

Only local people reach, hope raised after declaration of Ramsar site

The distance of Patna Bird Sanctuary from Jalesar town is five kilometers. Patna Bird Sanctuary is barely 50 to 60 kilometers from the two divisional headquarters Aligarh and Agra and half a dozen district headquarters, but very few outside tourists are seen here.

People of Etah district see it as a picnic spot. In winter, birds come to this Vihar in abundance, whereas the number of tourists remains less. There are many reasons behind this.

It's time to bid farewell to guest birds, people are demanding facilities

The facilities that should be there for children to play are also not visible. The water of the lake does not remain pure, because when the water rots, a foul smell spreads. There is no proper maintenance, due to which tourists do not reach in large numbers. There is a forest of palm trees here, due to which a little light is visible. Not a good seating plan. Earlier the road was also bumpy, although now it has been repaired.

There is no facility for voting

There is a big lake in Patna Bird Sanctuary, but the problem is that there is no voting facility there. The lake shore should have a beach-like appearance to attract tourists, but the lake shore is rough and overgrown with vegetation. When the water in the lake decreases, it is not even visible to increase it. The guest birds stay till 15 February. After this, the time of their farewell begins. If voting facility is available then means of entertainment can be available for children and people.

Bird census has been done recently

Recently, under the leadership of bird expert KP Singh, a census of birds has been done in Patna Bird Sanctuary, in which Northern Pintail 1270, Common Teal 458, Norton Shoveller 432, Gedwall 369 and Common Coot 295 birds were recorded. Nine endangered species were identified including Crane Painted Stork, Common Pochard, Greater Spotted Eagle.

On the basis of this calculation, Patna Bird Sanctuary was recently declared a Ramsar site, which has increased its international importance. The report of this census was submitted by the bird expert on January 21.

10 thousand tourists arrived in one year

The number of tourists is not sufficient considering that there is a peak for birds here from November to the end of February. Only 10 thousand tourists arrived in a year. People interested in birds are also included among these tourists, some researchers have also come.

Ranger Manisha Kukraiti of Patna Bird Sanctuary says that our effort is to increase the number of tourists. There is a natural lake here, not an artificial lake, which is based on rain water. Therefore there is no voting facility. Now that Patna Bird Sanctuary has got the status of 11th wetland, its international importance has also increased. Therefore now it is expected that more number of tourists will be attracted.

When Patna Bird Sanctuary has been declared a Ramsar site, the government should provide maximum facilities so that the number of tourists increases. - Harendra Dhangar, Principal Patna The government should make efforts to make the Patna Bird Sanctuary more attractive, maximum budget should be made available for this. If facilities increase then tourists will increase. - Ayush Pachauri, there should be proper arrangements for commercial birds also, so that researchers can come from outside and do research here and bird lovers also get attracted towards Patna Bird Sanctuary in large numbers. - Harishchandra Gupta, Vice President, A.B. Business Board: The lake should be cleaned and there should also be a water treatment system so that vegetation cannot grow in the lake and clean water is available for the birds. - Bhupendra Singh, farmer
