Waheeda Rehman had set conditions for working in Bollywood
Entertainment Desk, New Delhi. Veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman has given many memorable films to Indian cinema, including Kagaz Ka Phool, Pyaasa, Guide. But as talented as she was professionally, she was also a strong personality personally and expressed her views boldly.
Waheeda Rehman had given these conditions
When Waheeda came into films, it was legendary actor-director Guru Dutt who gave her her first chance in Bollywood. But before that Waheeda put some conditions before him. Ultimately even Guru Dutt had to bow down to her insistence and thus Waheeda created a distinct identity in Bollywood on her own terms.

Waheeda did not change her name
Often, to make a place in the film industry, girls have to do many things unwillingly, like changing their names, wearing different clothes. But Waheeda flatly refused to do these things. Especially in that era when feminism was not talked about so clearly. But Waheeda set her own conditions to work and worked with the same conditions.
Guru Dutt had to accept all the conditions
When Waheeda put these conditions before Guru Dutt, no one could match her stubbornness and self-respect. In such a situation, even the actor-director had to bow before him. The special thing is that Guru Dutt gave the first opportunity to Waheeda Rehman in Hindi cinema. Actually, earlier Waheeda used to work in South Cinema and once Guru Dutt had reached Hyderabad where Waheeda's dance in a Telugu film was highly praised and then Guru Dutt asked her to come to Mumbai.
Waheeda had told in an interview that while signing her first film in Hindi cinema, she was asked to change her name but she did not agree. Ultimately Guru Dutt agreed to all his conditions and he worked with him again in many films.
Guru Dutt and Waheeda's love remained incomplete
While working in many films, Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman fell in love. But Guru Dutt was married and when his wife came to know about this, she left the house. Waheeda did not like this and she distanced herself from Guru Dutt.
Waheeda Rehman is celebrating her 88th birthday this year. Waheeda has been awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhusham for her contribution to Indian cinema. He worked in films like Delhi-6, Chandni, Om Jai Jagdish, Namak Halal, Shatranj, Mann Ki Aankhen, Prem Pujari, Dharti, Kabhi Kabhie, Khamoshi.
