Jagran correspondent, Gayaji. The layers of the sensational gold robbery that took place in Howrah-Jodhpur Express under Gaya Railway Station area are now being revealed one by one. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating this case is continuously getting such important clues, from which it is becoming clear that the robbery conspiracy was very well planned and organized. Every day new revelations are being made in the investigation and links between the accused and each other are coming to light.

In this connection, on Wednesday the SIT team reached the place where the looted gold biscuits were cut. Under the leadership of DSP Bhaskar Ranjan of Patna Railway Headquarters, the team reached ASM RO Water Plant located near Sati Sthan of Chakand police station area on Gaya-Patna main road. This is said to be the place where, after the robbery, an attempt was made to cut the gold biscuits and dispose of them.

SIT thoroughly investigated the RO plant where the looted gold was cut.

The SIT investigated the RO plant premises for hours and interrogated the people nearby. Although the team did not disclose the recovered evidence to the media, but if sources are to be believed, many such evidences have been found from the spot, which may be directly related to the looted gold. During interrogation of the people living around the plant, the team also got information that the owner of the said RO plant is a person from Gaya city.

Vinod Baranwal, who was detained recently, had told the SIT that he was brought to this RO plant to cut the looted gold biscuits. It was only after Vinod's statement that this place came under investigation. The shocking thing has also come to light that Vinod Baranwal does not have any valid license to melt or cut gold, yet this work was done to him.

Conspiracy spread from bullion market to railway station, many accused still absconding

On the behest of Vinod Baranwal, the SIT team reached Sarafa Mandi located at Tower Chowk of Gaya city the very next day. Here an attempt was made to arrest Gaya District Treasurer of Bullion Association and gold businessman Mohit Aggarwal alias Golu, but he escaped by dodging the police. Police have received information that he is currently hiding in Chhattisgarh.

In this whole incident, the owner of the RO plant, Mohd. Parvez is also an accused, who is still absconding. It is said that on the day the arrest warrant was issued against six accused in this case, Vinod Baranwal was in the custody of the SIT. A police officer from Patna Railway Headquarters had reached Gaya Railway Court to obtain the warrant.

It is noteworthy that on November 21, 2025, about one kilogram of gold kept in the courier of gold and silver trader Manoj Soni, who was traveling in the ordinary bogie of Howrah-Jodhpur Express, was looted. During this time, the courier of a businessman named Dhananjay Shashwat was assaulted. It is alleged that four constables of Gaya Railway Station, former driver of Railway Station Sitaram alias Aman Sharma and Parvez together carried out this incident.

Loot worth Rs 1.5 crore takes high profile form, secrecy being maintained in investigation

This scandal has become high profile after the case of loot of gold worth about Rs 1.5 crore came to light. For this reason, many information related to the investigation is being kept confidential. Officials associated with SIT are maintaining distance from the media, although raids are being conducted continuously inside the house. Police teams are continuously raiding Gaya, Jehanabad and Arwal districts in search of absconding accused.

Outgoing Railway Station Head Rajesh Kumar Singh has already been arrested in this case. His bail petition has been rejected and now preparations are being made to file the bail petition again in Gaya Civil Court.

Till the time of writing the news, the looted gold has not been recovered and the arrest of two civilian accused Parvez and Sitaram along with four constables of Gaya Railway Station is also pending. However, based on the inputs received by the SIT, it is expected that soon this much-discussed gold robbery case will be fully exposed and all the accused will be behind the bars.
