Seema Jha / Suman Aggarwal, New Delhi. Dr. Hansaji Yogendra (Yoga Expert, Director, The Yoga Institute, Mumbai) says to stay away from technology and connect with nature. As we moved away from nature, we became unhealthy. Therefore, in the coming year, take a resolution to stay away from mobile phones and gadgets and come closer to nature. Listen to music, relax and say goodbye to stress.
We have to understand that yoga is not just breathing exercises or some asana-exercises. This is to organize your daily routine. These days sleep is becoming a big challenge.
Not having good sleep means hormonal imbalance. Due to this there is a risk of weight gain. Gaining weight means an invitation to many diseases. Understand why problems have started increasing in our lives. This is where yoga helps. It tells you that we just have to be aware. Understanding of oneself has to be increased. The shortcomings of the body have to be removed. This includes not only the power of the body but also the power of the mind.
I believe that people have become so dependent on mobiles and gadgets etc. that awareness is decreasing. Today people are considering yoga and meditation as just routine. Picking up your mobile as soon as you wake up in the morning and being in its grip till late at night is causing great harm. Our ability to think and understand is being affected. We are becoming intolerant. It is having a bad effect on children. This has to change, this should be your main New Year's resolution.
Pay attention to them in daily life
Dr. Shikha Sharma (Scientific Mentor, Ranfort Wellness) advises to make every day ‘healthy’. In this busy life, every year we take a resolution to be healthy, but fall behind in achieving it. We should take a resolution not for the whole year but for every day. If we add some good things to our food and remove some unhealthy things, we will remain healthy.
Focus on raw food
Half of the food in your plate should be cooked and half raw. You can start with vegetable juice in the morning. Carrot, beetroot and gooseberry juice is beneficial in winter. Raw vegetables are rich in enzymes which keep the intestines healthy.
Take adequate amount of protein
There are many protein options for vegetarians. If you want, you can get adequate amount of protein from green vegetables, sprouted pulses and seeds. Children, old people and young people require specific amount of protein every day.
One should try to drink at least two liters of water a day. If you want, you can give yourself reminders from time to time. The right amount of water will prevent muscle pain and improve oxygen and blood circulation.
People rely more on chemical supplements to fulfill the deficiency of nutrients in the body, but from the New Year, resolve yourself that you will include natural medicines like Ashwagandha, Aloe Vera, Shatavari and Brahmi in your diet.
