Fake WhatsApp created in the name of DM
Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. The vicious cyber fraud gang has again created a fake WhatsApp in the name of DM Subrata Kumar Sen. His photograph has been placed on it and his name is also written. This WhatsApp has been created from the number 84589267391.
This 11 digit number is shown to be from Vietnam when searched on True Caller. Through this the fraudster is sending messages to many officials and people. The matter of asking for confidential information and documents has also come to light.
The administration has received information about creation of fake WhatsApp profile. In this regard, the DM has clarified that the said mobile number or any profile operated from it is not his authorized contact medium. Everyone has been alerted.
It has been said that if any message or call comes from this number, then immediately block it and contact the cyber helpline number and give information. He said that all official instructions issued from the District Magistrate's office are sent only through authorized government channels, official letters, e-mails or verified mobile numbers.
Demand for confidential information or administrative orders are not issued through any individual WhatsApp number. Due to this everyone has been asked to be alert. The district administration has instructed the cyber cell and related agencies to investigate the matter and take necessary legal action. Also, an appeal has been made to the general public to be cautious about cyber crimes and not to spread any kind of rumor or false information further.
Earlier too he was demanding money from fake WhatsApp number.
It may be noted that last year also, fake WhatsApp profiles were being created in the name of DM and money was being demanded from the officials. Even at that time, it was detected that fake profiles were being created using Vietnamese numbers, but the cyber cell team could not detect it.
Apart from this, a case has also come to light recently of embezzling money from the accounts of many Sarpanches by making fake calls in the name of District Panchayati Raj Officer. Similarly, money was also demanded by creating fake ID on internet media in the name of District Settlement Officer. However, no action could be taken in these cases.
