Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. Fire Breaks Out at Selfie Point of Dhanbad Railway Station: A sudden fire broke out at Dhanbad Railway Station of East Central Railway (ECR) on Sunday night, creating chaos in the station premises. Seeing the high flames and thick smoke, a stampede occurred among the passengers. However, it is a matter of relief that no passenger has been reported injured in this incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out in the selfie point near the main entrance of the station. Within a few minutes the fire took a huge form and the flames started rising several feet high. The smoke rising from the fire engulfed the station premises as well as the surrounding area, causing problems in breathing for the passengers. Dozens of two-wheelers were parked near the spot of fire. The fire spread rapidly and started moving towards the vehicles, raising the possibility of a major accident. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the people and passengers present at the spot raised noise and got all the two-wheelers removed from there one by one. Along with this, an attempt was made to extinguish the fire by bringing water from the shops on Station Road. The fire continued to burn for about half an hour. At 9:28 pm, information was given to the fire department from the station's PA office. About half an hour after receiving the information, the fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the fire completely by spraying water. However, by then the fire was controlled to a great extent with the help of local people and some passengers. Some people also expressed their displeasure over the late arrival of the fire brigade. It is being told that the selfie point built a few years ago had turned into junk due to lack of maintenance for a long time. There, people living in the station premises used to dry clothes and garbage was also thrown nearby. It is suspected that someone set the garbage on fire, due to which this incident occurred. The railway administration has ordered an investigation into the matter.
