Dialogue Associate, Gurdaspur. Continuous dense fog is becoming the cause of many accidents. Babbri Bypass on the Pathankot-Amritsar National Highway, where there is a hi-tech police checkpoint, is where road accidents are happening during dense fog due to the dangerous turn.
One such accident happened on the National Highway at Babbri Bypass at around 6.30 am on Saturday morning. Where while trying to save a suddenly arrived vehicle, a truck filled with paper rolls jumped the divider and overturned on the other side. Although there was no loss of life in this accident, the truck was badly damaged.
Earlier, two cars had also collided with each other late in the night. However, major loss of life was avoided in this accident and both suffered minor injuries. It is known that a few days ago also a truck overturned due to fog on Babbri Bypass.
Giving information, truck driver Sanjeev Singh said that he was going from Jammu to Bhilwara in Rajasthan after loading paper rolls in the truck. When he reached Babbri Bypass, due to dense fog he could not see that the vehicle in front was moving. When he saw, he immediately applied brakes, but he lost control over the truck and the truck jumped the divider and overturned on the wrong side of the one-way road.
On the other hand, ASI Rachpal Singh said that due to the overturning of the truck, the paper rolls scattered on the road, due to which the traffic was affected for some time, but he reached the spot and kept the rolls aside and restored the traffic. The owner of the truck has been called and will arrive soon and the truck will be removed from the road.
