Jagran correspondent, Champawat. Ambadatt Kharkwal, son of uncle of former MLA and Congress leader Himesh Kharkwal, was killed by a person from the village by attacking him with a sharp weapon. Police have registered an FIR against the accused. Also making inquiries. Expressing deep condolences, former MLA Kharkwal said that he had deep affection for his brother. He had a very sociable personality. On Saturday, 15-16 kilometers away from the district headquarters, 80-year-old Ambadatt Kharkwal, resident of Sania village, was murdered with a sharp weapon by Subhash Kharkwal of the same village. The deceased was the paternal son of former MLA Himesh Kharkwal and his cousin.

Ambadatt lived alone in his house. His two daughters are married, while his two married sons live outside the village. Ambadatt had gone to Haldwani two days ago to attend the wedding of his relative's daughter and returned to the village on Saturday after staying at the house of his son living in Tanakpur on Friday. Shortly after reaching home from Tanakpur, a crazy young man stabbed him in the neck with a sickle and killed him. According to the villagers, Ambadatt Kharkwal was very friendly and used to reach people's homes in every sorrow and happiness. He also actively participated in social work.

There were also well-known Holyars of the area. The young man who murdered him was his neighbor and Ambadatt had no dispute with him. Many times he used to sit and talk with Ambadatt. According to the villagers, Ambadatt was brought by his daughter-in-law with her from Tanakpur to Champawat on Saturday.

The daughter-in-law went to a meeting of some voluntary organization in Champawat and Ambadatt left for the village. Not even 15 minutes had passed since he reached home when his neighbor youth Subhash Chandra Kharkwal, son of Narayan Dutt Kharkwal attacked him on the neck with a sharp weapon (scythe) held in his hand. Due to the attack, Ambadatt fell on the ground bleeding and died on the spot. The funeral will take place today after post-mortem. Former MLA Himesh Kharkwal said that he is deeply hurt by his brother's death. The accused has been arrested and the FIR has also been registered.

The villagers told that the young man dragged the deceased Ambadatt into the ground several times and after his death, he hit his body several times with a shovel and kept the body near the fodder cutting machine installed nearby as if he was sitting.

Some villagers saw this incident with their own eyes but could not reach the spot due to fear. He definitely informed the police about the incident. Villagers told that the mental condition of the young man was not good and he was upset for more than three-four days.

Ambadatt used to do farming

The wife of deceased Ambadatt had passed away about eight years ago. He used to stay at home and do farming. Jeevan Upreti, who runs a seed store in Champawat, said that four days ago they had taken fifty seeds of pumpkin, capsicum, tomato etc. from his shop. His elder son is working in the Horticulture Department, who lives in Tanakpur. While the younger son lives in Champawat with his children.
