Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. A case of fraud of Rs 95 lakh on the pretext of profit in the cosmetic product business has come to light. In this case, Pragati Singh, resident of Shahpur area, committed fraud along with her husband Rahul Singh, brother-in-law Rohit, sister Garima, brother Anand, colleague Pradeep and mother-in-law. When the SSP conducted an investigation on the complaint of the victim, the allegations were confirmed, after which the Shahpur police registered a case against all the accused.

Basharatpur resident Trupti Pandey told the police in her complaint that in the year 2021, she had met Pragati Singh Tomar in a salon. During the conversation, Pragati revealed herself to be involved in a big business of cosmetic products. He said that his business is running in Lucknow and Delhi, while he also has a big network in Gorakhpur, Deoria and Ballia.

Pragati claimed that this business is jointly looked after by her husband, brother-in-law, brother and sister and she gets huge profits by investing in it. According to the victim, Pragati and her family members assured her that the money invested would be safe and she would get good profits on time. Falling into their trap, Trupti Pandey gave a total of Rs 95 lakh in different installments.

After some time, when the profits were not received and the amount was demanded, the accused started evasiveness. When the victim asked for her principal amount back, the accused gave her cheques. All the checks bounced when deposited in the bank. After this, when pressure was again applied to return the money, the accused started threatening.

When the SSP investigated the complaint, the allegation was found to be true. After this, Shahpur police registered a case against eight people including Pragati Singh. CO Gorakhnath Ravi Kumar Singh said that investigation into the case has been started. The investment amount, bank transactions and role of the accused are being thoroughly investigated. Further legal action will be taken based on evidence.
